Turning over a new leaf

If you’re viewing this, then welcome to our new website! Packed with information, news and (soon to be) events, we hope this provides all you need to know whether you’re interested in joining us or already a Rockiteer. Thanks to Deepest Media for an excellent job.

We hope you all had a good summer, and to celebrate the launch, feast your eyes on our latest Rock It! festival video from July 2017 courtesy of The Video Box TV . You can view all our festival videos here

Well done!

Well done to all our young Rockiteers who, after only 6 weeks, got on stage and performed for the delight of over 100 people at our first event of the new year. We went from rocked up electronica, through to modern indie and classic rock, all the way to thrash metal. All of it performed brilliantly.

Many thanks to all the Music Leaders and volunteers who worked together to help our new participants, and friends and family who supported the night. Everyone proved, once again, that music can inspire and bring people together in a wonderful way.

First band on brings a lot of pressure. They stormed it of course!

Our youngest Rockiteers proved that age is just a number:

Special mention to a certain bassist who performed with a broken collar bone!

Our fourth band brought us to life:

Purple Chains performed like seasoned professionals:

The final performers, Native Wasteland and Dante, featured Rock It! Music Leaders and volunteers and showed all our participants just what can be achieved!

Meet our new bands

It’s non-stop here at Rock It! HQ. Just in time for our first performance event of the year on 1st July where, not yet even named, we are getting bands up on stage for nerves, laughter and lots of sweet music – details here – we invite you to meet our new band members with this sample from our photo shoot courtesy of the brilliant Nik Bryant Photography.

Don’t forget, there are still places available for young people aged 11-18, whether a seasoned musician or beginner! Email rockitbolton@gmail.com to apply.

Only 3 weeks to go!

There are just 3 weeks left until creative youth project, Rock It!, restarts on 6th May, running until April next year.  With funding now rewarded from both BBC Children In Need and Bolton CVS, the sweet sound of music is set to dominate Bolton.

Established over 8 years ago to help young people create and perform new, contemporary music, Rock It! has helped over 100 teenagers to work towards careers in the music industry with successful singer-songwriters, event managers, sound engineers, bands and even opera singers under its belt!

Sessions take place on Saturdays during term time at Redbridge Studios with four performance events, including our annual outdoor festival taking place on Saturday 29th July at Queens Park.  With a focus on inclusivity, applicants are welcome from beginners to more experienced, and costs are kept low at just £8 per session.

Applications for participants can be made via http://www.rockitbolton.com/contact-apply/ or by emailing rockitbolton@gmail.com.

Rock It! lives on

Support for Rock It! is still at a high with Bolton’s recent Upload day-long festival promoting and raising funds for our project. Taking place at the Alma Inn live music venue and featuring Rock It! bands playing amongst a host of established artists from across the UK, Upload proved a great success. Thanks go to the event organisers, the venue, Carrs Pasties for providing sustenance, and all the bands who played on the day, including our very own Motorbreath and Native Wasteland.
